Where can I find Old West Saloon-style bar stools?
I am trying to recreate an Old West-style Saloon bar in the downstairs area of my home and so far I have not seen anything even remotely close to what I am looking for on any of the websites I have tried (and I have looked at alot of them). I am not interested in the cheesy looking ones that are not anything like what they had back then (with fringe, fancy patterns of cowboys, or other gaudy decoration). I am looking for something very basic - not elaborate or fancy. Barstools that are made of wood or metal with nothing fancy about them. If they are antique or rustic-looking, that is all the better. I will need at least two but no more than four. And I really don't want to pay more than 50 bucks a piece. Does anyone know of where I could find such items?
OK, lets allow 2 feet of bar top per person minimum. so you need 30 liner feet more would be better. If you plan on having any bar top ... See More
How to reupholster back rest on bar stool. Doesn't come apart. Seat done, looks great.?
Have 10" high bar to recover on chairs. There are cap-like covers that seem to do nothing on the wood part of the chair holding the back rest. Seems like fabric now on it is stitched at the underside but how do I get it tight into the sides? The seat came apart fine with screws but there is no way to pull apart the top. Any ideas?
1) remover the seat you already reupholstered, and what you can do it cover the back rest with fabric (over the existing fabric), pull it ... See More
How to best refinish pine bar stools?
I have a pair of pine bar stools that are just a few years old that I'd like to refinish. My dog damaged them when he was a puppy and the wood color no longer matches my decor.
They have a medium colored stain and appear to have very little finish on top of that.
I want to fill in the indents/ tooth marks on the spindles/ foot rests w/ a stainable wood putty. I want to get rid of the current finish and then stain a darker color, then top w/ a durable poly as he still rests his often wet chin on the lower foot spindles.
How would I remove the current finish/ poly? Should I use some sort of gel or liquid stripper or just sand? It seems sanding could be tricky with a few rows of spindles. I just want to be sure they accept the new darker stain. They are fairly inexpensive stools, just love the style and can't find them now, so I am not looking for perfection, just need to know the best way to get the current sealer off and how to get them to accept the stain. Any tips?
Thanks Bobs. I am not too concerned w/ future dents as he is grown and doesn't chew things anymore and they are more like punctures, if that makes any sense. . I'd not realized the dents would still be obvious once filled/ stained. Now, my concern would be if there's anyway to keep excess stain from getting in the punctures and appearing darker than the rest of the spindle if I don't repair them?
you have several problems:
1. Pine dents, it will continue to dent.
2. Stainable fillers stain, but they never look like the wood nor stain ... See More
What is the difference between a Bar and a Breakfast Bar?
I just leased an apartment with an extension separating the kitchen from the dining room. It is a curved, wood topped piece that you can place bar stools around. I have been calling it a "bar" and my co-worker is trying to convince me it is called a "breakfast bar". Which one is correct?
There is an exact name to it, regardless of what I do, drink, or eat on it.
depends what you use it for - having your breakfast or having a drink See More
Do they make parts that will allow me to extend my bar stool height?
Bar stool chair leg extensions - do they make these? I bought 2 bar stool chairs (wood), but they aren't tall enough; and I can't take them back. I want to make them taller. Are there any products that I can add to the foot of the legs that will increase the height safely? When I do a Google search, all I get is: chairs that have extension built in or exercise equipment. I need a product that I can stick around and to the end of the legs in order to extend the height.
My bar stool chairs are 30 inches, I want to extend them to 40 inches.
You should have mentioned how much taller the stools need to be! Adding casters to the bottom of the legs will extend the height as much ... See More
